Victorian grant eligibility criteria released
04 Jun 2021

With the latest Victorian grant now open for applications, we have finally received some further information on the eligibility requirements. Unfortunately like the last grant offered by the State Government during the snap lockdown, there are very specific eligibility criteria in place. This criteria is meant to ensure the relief targets those businesses impacted the most but as always with these types of hurried grants, there will be many who miss out that need help.

The key eligibility criteria are as follows: –

  • must operate a business within Victoria;
  • hold an ABN;
  • be GST registered;
  • operate in an eligible industry as defined by the industry code linked to the business’ ABN registration. The eligible industry codes are in non essential retail, hospitality, tourism, event related services, services and education, health care and social assistance. Specifically excluded industry codes are construction, professional services, manufacturing and essential retail. This link gives further information on the specific industry codes within these sections – https://business.vic.gov.au/grants-and-programs/circuit-breaker-business-support-package/business-costs-assistance-program/eligible-anzsic-classes;
  • have payroll up to $10 million;
  • incurred direct costs as a result of the lockdown such as booking cancellations, wages paid for staff, utilities, rent etc.

The grant is open now and applications close on 24 June. If in doubt our recommendation is to apply as the Government will knock back those who are ineligible but you won’t get it unless you apply. Further information on the eligibility criteria can be found in the link below.
