Some may recall the introduction of Superstream and the electronic reporting of superannuation payments. This involved all self-managed super funds needing to apply for an electronic service address (ESA) from a registered provider. At that stage, many providers offered this service free of charge. However recently all these free providers have been switched off and as such the ESA details are no longer valid.
We recommend all members of self-managed super funds who have contributions paid into their funds check that their ESA is still valid. A new ESA through a new provider may need to be applied for. Unfortunately, there are no free options available in the market but there are many providers still offering the service for a reasonable monthly fee.
