A warning to taxpayers regarding changes to the ATO’s communication preferences which could impact them. The ATO is shifting more and more to a digital system and is wanting to eliminate paper lodgements. In November without warning, they have changed the preferences of many taxpayers from paper to digital.
This change was made without notifying tax agents and could mean you will not receive your usual quarterly PAYG instalment through the post to lodge and pay. Instead the statement will appear on your myGov account and the ATO will send a reminder text and email three weeks before the due date. As many suspect such correspondence is spam or fake, these reminders could be ignored and tax payments could be missed.
If you usually receive quarterly instalments but have not, please check your myGov account or set one up. If you need assistance or have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
